Deep, quesaco ?
Ma prochaine exposition emmène vers quelque profondeur.
Je vais mettre en avant des points de fuite marqués issus de mon univers visuel photographique.
Toujours du bleu mais pas seulement, parfois du rectangle, parfois du rond.
Les formats s’adapteront au lieu, la brasserie Stop Cluny dans le 5ème arrondissement de Paris.

Meeting Nobuko Murakami and Alex Rotin

Photo of the week : Round #2
Creative process is wonderful. The people you meet, the things you see, the sparkling idea that comes !!
My serie of photographies « Round » is a way for me to see the world with the same shape than our eyes : the circle.
It was a new exercise for me because I had to imagine a rounded image from the real world through the squared frame of my APN.
So the challenge was very interesting, so I created 10 photographies on this serie.
To reach my level of sharpness and color fidelity I choosed the subligraphy technique to print theses photographies. It allows me to show these pictures without frame, you just have to buy it and hang it 😉

Color, you say color ?
As I say during my exhibitions an art photography is a piece of art made of materials.
Even if there are millions of pictures on screens, it is a really different point of view to see an art photography in the real world.
If you take the blue pill, as I do, then you have to treat it with respect and requirement.
There is a serious game to make your blue the same
- Step 1 : from the real life to the camera
- Step 2 : from the camera to the computer,
- Step 3 : from the computer to the printer,
- Step 4 : from the printer to the medium (e. g paper)
That is why you have to use special tools at each step :
Step 1 : a color pattern. You take a picture with your color pattern and the following with the same settings
Step 2 : a digital calibration to share the same color values between the camera and the computer (screen and files)
Step 3 : a color space, available in photoshop for instance, so that the computer say to the printer « Hey, this is my blue, print the same please! »
Step 4 : calibrating the printer with the same settings that the step 1
Step 5 : surprise ! you see the picture in the real world again !

Is Instagram usefull for an artist and how to integrate it in your website ?
Several friends artists ask me if Instagram is useful for an artist and how to use it in your « websphere » ?
Is Instagram useful ?
My answer is YES, it is useful for many reasons :
- you can reach new people interested in your art
- you can see inspirational works of other artists
- you can link with people in other areas than yours, for instance food’s world, car’s world, music’s world
and it allows you to see how public reacts to your art, there are instant answers when you post an image. Sometimes it is a hit, sometimes not. You always have to keep in mind that 80 million images are posted every day on Instagram, so it is a real job to emerge in this ocean!
How to integrate Instagram in you website?
I am using wordpress as a CMS for my website. There are several plugins to include Instagram in your website. I have choosen « Enjoy Plugin for Instagram » because it is really simple to use, web responsive and it is free! It looks like a dynamic carousel so that many pictures are showed on your webpage.
The steps are
- go to your WordPress admin interface
- plugins / add new
- search Enjoy Plugin for Instagram
- once installed you have to connect to your Instagram profile (user/pwd)
- then you specify your settings : size, number of images, aso…
I positioned my instagram on the sidebar because it is more visible and always at the same place.
It is easy and the result is really interesting !
