    Partager mon expérience autour du livre Poèmoscopes me semble essentiel pour toutes celles et ceux qui envisagent d’écrire un livre, de le partager et de le vendre.

    Cet article s’adresse aussi à qui souhaite savoir ce qu’il se passe entre une idée d’auteur et le livre tenu entre vos mains.

    J’ai synthétisé le cycle d’un livre en 15 grandes étapes présentées ci-dessous :

    What are the criterias for a home page to be the best ?

    • reflecting who you are
    • up to date design
    • easy to understand
    • sharable

    That’s why i changed my home page from a static image you had to click to enter my website to a slider that automatically displays several shots.

    Une expo comme celle-ci c’est d’abord une idée, un fil conducteur, une exigence de partager un regard sur le monde, ses changements, ses repères.

    1 an, c’est le temps qu’il m’a fallut pour concevoir et réaliser cet ensemble photographique.

    Mon expo démarre le 7 mars 2020, vernissage le 6 mars à partir de 18h.

    Quelques préparatifs au menu :

    • prendre des photos
    • imaginer une scénographie
    • imprimer les photos
    • préparer les textes d’accompagnement
    • accrocher
    • communiquer

  • Color, you say color ?

    Color, you say color ?

    As I say during my exhibitions an art photography is a piece of art made of materials.

    Even if there are millions of pictures on screens, it is a really different point of view to see an art photography in the real world.

    If you take the blue pill, as I do, then you have to treat it with respect and requirement.

    There is a serious game to make your blue the same

    • Step 1 : from the real life to the camera
    • Step 2 : from the camera to the computer,
    • Step 3 : from the computer to the printer,
    • Step 4 : from the printer to the medium (e. g paper)

    That is why you have to use special tools at each step :

    Step 1 : a color pattern. You take a picture with your color pattern and the following with the same settings

    Step 2 : a digital calibration to share the same color values between the camera and the computer (screen and files)

    Step 3 : a color space, available in photoshop for instance, so that the computer say to the printer « Hey, this is my blue, print the same please! »

    Step 4 : calibrating the printer with the same settings that the step 1

    Step 5 : surprise ! you see the picture in the real world again !

    Les photos sont prêtes à être exposées. La semaine prochaine a lieu l’accrochage et le matériel est prêt.

    Une exposition se doit d’être cohérente et esthétique, c’est toujours un challenge intéressant de faire vivre ses oeuvres dans un lieu !

     

    My photographies are ready to be hooked next week, and all the accessories are also ready.

    An exhibition has to be aesthetic and it is always a challenge to make artwork and place working together !

    I’m working on my new shop.

    The objectives are to present different prints with an easy way to buy it.

    That is a great task because you have to think about many things !

    Just wait few days and you will see the first items online.

  • How to protect your photos : the copyright and so on…

    How to protect your photos : the copyright and so on…

    There is always a dilemma on what to show on internet to be seen and what not to show to protect your images.

    My answer on this question is that you can put your images on the web only by following this recommendations :

    • protect your originals by a legal deposit. You put your shots to a lawyer, it allows your to give a date for your original creations
    • upload only low resolution files, for instance 92 dpi. To print with high quality it is necessary to reach 300 dpi at least
    • upload medium size pictures, 1000 pixels maximum
    • put a copyright on your shot, i use watermark in the middle of the picture so that a copy can’t be done without your copyright

    and well, whatever you put on the internet, it could be duplicated…

    …and that’s a good sign because it means that what you do is liked by people !

    Just be sure the link between the photo and its author is easy to find.

  • 7 steps to prepare my next exhibition / 7 étapes pour préparer ma prochaine expo

    Preparing an exhibition is a creative activity. As a fine art photographer I have to choose the pictures, the paper, the size of my fine art photographies. I will show approximately 30 pictures, most will never have been seen in an exhibition before.

    Here is the workflow :

    • I take my picture and choose the ones for the exhibition
    • I work on computer my digital picture to reach my aesthetics
    • I add my signature
    • I create the tiff’s file with my color space
    • I get a pro to print
    • I get a pro to laminate
    • I hang with the gallerist

     

    Préparer une exposition est une activité créative. En tant que photographe Fine Art je dois choisir les images, le papier, la taille de mes photographies. Je vais montrer environ 30 photos, la plupart n’ayant jamais été exposées.

    Le processus est le suivant :

    • je prends ma photo et je la sélectionne pour l’exposition
    • je travaille ma photo numérique sur ordinateur pour obtenir l’esthétique souhaitée
    • j’ajoute ma signature
    • je crée les fichiers au format Tiff avec mon espace couleur
    • je fais réaliser le tirage pro
    • je fais réaliser le contrecollage pro
    • j’installe avec le galeriste
